Name: Lophostemon Confertus
Source/Origin: This large coastal hardwood grows from the central coast of NSW into QLD.
Appearance: The heartwood varies from pink to a rich red brown. The sapwood is much paler. This fine grained timber often has a rich fiddleback (attractive distortion in growth of wood fibres).
Common uses: Brushbox makes an excellent polished floor. It is also used in cabinetwork and high end joinery, as well as decking, cladding, flooring and panelling.
