ACTS and its expanding number of sister
companies including Enviro-Forest Solutions Ltd provides a
perfect solution for small millers, woodlot and plantation
forest owners.
Until commencement of our highly successful
business enterprise 10 years ago my background included over 20
years of sawmilling and processing. My family history in
sawmilling exceeds that time frame. This experience and close
relationship with millers has provided a great understanding of
the complex issues facing those who seek to maximize their
returns from their wood resources.
We understand the complex needs and broad
range of skills and resources required to mount an effective
operation from forest to value-added market. This understanding
has led to our TOTAL-SOLUTION enterprise for your participation.
My company has first-hand experience of the
frustrations and difficulties encountered especially by smaller
millers who are forced to accept the terms of a diminishing
number of large milling corporations that are the only winners
in most timber or log supply arrangements.
In some instances, there are no winners
because the big millers entrenched work practices and technology
deployed is no longer well suited even to their own main species
or product lines. Production technologies designed for a 1950’s
mature log resource often simply cannot produce satisfactory
profit outcomes from 2007 resource so that in many cases there
are NO WINNERS. Kiln Drying
The first of our many sister companies is being established now
with equity raising and opportunities for you and other wood
suppliers to become partners in our enterprise. Enviro-Forest
Solutions Ltd has been formed and will soon start operations at
Mordialloc, Victoria.
A significant site, this operation will
fulfill a static-plant drying role for timber sourced from a
number of locations. In other cases, kilns may be provided at
mill or near plantation sites and operated and controlled by our
advanced online control technology. We have solutions and
technical skills to provide all drying requirements for any
specie or product. Our increasingly recognized credentials as
leaders in drying quality products from immature sawlog resource
and difficult species may be of special importance.
Our delicate low temperature low energy input
processes will ensure that the competitive advantage will
continue to increase with rising energy costs.
Technical Support
Over many years of practical experience we
have demonstrated unparalleled success in drying the most
difficult species and products to the highest possible standard.

Supported by a highly sophisticated online
control system and comprehensive data logging features, our
skills are online at all times, ensuring reliable and consistent
success.
Highly developed process warning systems have
been developed to call us whenever a problem may be developing.
Ambient and process monitoring systems ensure we always have our
skilled fingers on the pulse!

Milling
Our skills in log milling methodology are
built on practical experience over many years. Greg Weir
performed successful small plantation eucalypt log cutting
trials, developed and published simultaneous stress relief
strategies as 12 years before Tasmanian and other research
bodies claimed their “breakthroughs” in recent times.
Enviro-Forest Solutions Ltd is planning to
commence its own first sawmilling operation in 2008 in what is a
pilot of many more that will follow. Plans are being formulated
to put in place portable milling systems that will compliment
our portable drying technology. Since we are not burdened by
fixed milling or drying infrastructure, we expect to accrue
major savings in transport of water and waste products in log
form. Massive freight and road infrastructure savings (manly
diesel fuel) will revolutionize industry as we currently know
it.
Marketing
Established over many years, our successful
award winning retail operation at Kilsyth, Victoria underpins a
solid marketing foundation for quality products.
Our credo of being a “cut above the rest” is
well appreciated by architects, fine furniture manufacturers and
clients who appreciate our total commitment to quality and
superior technical advice for a range of products and
applications.
A number of strategic alliances with overseas
value-add manufacturing companies, domestic retailers and
wholesalers compliment our range and marketing strategies.
Our access to in-house kiln drying, contract
laminating, dressing and other processing facilities combined
with our knowledge of market quality expectations ensure that
clients stock is prepared to highest possible standards to
achieve best possible return to all parties in the market
segment most suited to it.
Accordingly our diverse activities and levels
of experience compliment each other, creating a win-win
situation for all parties involved with our business. If you
want more information email us or give us a call.
Sincerely,
Greg Weir
