Parquet wooden floors can be installed in a number of configurations. A popular choice is the floating floor option, whereby a layer of underlay is placed on top of the existing floor (for noise and heat insulation), then the boards are placed on top and locked together via the tongues and grooves, and the weight of the combined boards holds the whole floor in place.
